Fariatie | Audiovisual Design | Documentary | VJ performances

Since my audiovisual design study at the Willem The Kooning Art academy i have been inspired by eastern philosophy’s and aspects of everyday innerlife. The use of analog techniques and mixing them all together in the digital jungle is typical in my work. My work has been described as audiovisual poetry, guerilla style and i translate this style in project based assignments like new media workshop concepts, video reports, corporate motion graphics, VJ performances etc.

The experimental documentary ‘Wabi’ and two video works ‘The Cosmic Giggle’ & ‘Oxygen’ have been shown at: VPRO, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Dutch Film Festival Utrecht, Streamingfestival.com, Beijng China (Contemporary Art museum), Lisbon Portugal (Gulbenkian museum), Sao Paulo Brasil (Museum of Art), Brussels, Belgium, Blend Guerilla Store , Xinacittá (Barcelona, International animation filmfestival)

Ellen Rodenberg

-          From 1994 until 2002 Ellen Rodenberg worked mainly as a painter. Her work was shown in galleries, art Fairs (KunstRAi), artist-run-spaces and museums. From 2002 she started to make installations next to her painting. These installations are multi-disciplinary: she uses a variety of materials next to drawings, paintings and photography.

-          From 2005 she was engaged in organizing the DCR, a “broedplaats” in The Hague. This included renovating the building and organizing open night’s for artists to give them opportunity to show their work and creating an atmosphere of synergetic collaboration.

-          In 2006 she started an artist’s collective, (EX)-MÊKH, together with three other artist’s. This collective has since then been active in making and curating exhibitions all over the country.

-          In 2008 Ellen Rodenberg took up a residency for three months in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for the Landing Soon project of HEDEN, Den Haag. During this project an idea developed to project movies on flags.

-         In September-October 2009 (EX)-MÊKH organized five succeeding exhibitions in  N9 stichting Ruimtevaart, a show every weekend. Super B, the cinema in the building was also being used for this project. Ellen Rodenberg made use of this space by continuing experiments with movies, sound/video and installation pieces. For one of the installations Jan Borchers made a compilation from his Chrystal Archives Collection. Also an old 16 mm movie was projected on a screen with four colourfields by Ellen Rodenberg (which has also been used in Yogyakarta). This was accompanied by Cinema for the Ears: Jan Borchers, Electronics, bass, Paul Borchers, drums, synths, Paul klaui, electronics, Leo Jinssen guitar/effects.
