COMBINING LIVE-MUSICIANS WITH LAPTOP(ABLETON).
The Sundayexperience (myspace.com/thesundayexperience) writes (quote):
“Dr Mabuse describe their sound as ‘IDM / experimental / metal’ – which I guess is an aptly broad brush with which to file their sound under, it really is a cornucopia of strange delights and just the kind of thing you rightly expect from an ensemble borrowing their name from the celebrated Lang directed celluloid villain of the 30’s.”
Lez : I do not write “songs”, It’s more like a concept I think of when I write. For the Antilounge-project , I tried to combine the atmosphere and fast beats of drum&bass- and IDM-like genres with Orchestral elements/movements.Sometimes using Gypsy Scales And using only Japanese voice- samples and some sparks of Sonology and experimental music.
I wrote 3 pieces (Anti1,2 and 3), then we recorded all the live parts (bass, drums, horns, samples, percussion, keys, trashcans, symphonic, etc.) After some pre-mixing I send the tracks to Martijn Kipkillah, so he could make a choice which one should be on the DVD. He chose for Anti2 , which we renamed Monolithic.
After that we made a mix with Chris at Holland Spoor Studios.
Live we are gonna play all 3 of them + 1 or 2 other “songs”
The Track is a collage that consist of 4 tracks : Anti 1, I Never watch porn, Anti 3 and Monolithic.
